Burnaby Mountain, Kinder Morgan, an ILLEGAL Court Injunction, and Trans Mountain Pipeline

In any democracy or, even a United States of the Ameericas style "di-mok ruh-si"; the courts, the government, the politicians; MUST always be  responssible to The People.

The mood had been largely festive and non-confrontational as parents brought their children to the protest. They chanted "Hey, hey. Ho, ho. Kinder Morgan has got to go."
Then, the RCMP began enforcing an ILLEGAL court injunction(There has been NO REFERUNDOM to determine the wishes of the People-and especially the taxpayers of British Columbia) ordering protesters to clear a pair of work sites on Burnaby Mountain where Kinder Morgan is conducting drilling, and survey work, related to the proposed expansion of itsTrans Mountain pipeline.
A Burnaby Mountain restaurant is now out of business because of the PUBLICALLY OWNED ROAD CLOSURES and the on-going anti-pipeline demonstrations. Sixty people are out of work.

David Suzuki blasts RCMP for arresting grandson, Tamo Campos, at B.C. Kinder Morgan pipeline protest
At least a dozen protesters including an 11-year-old girl taken into custody Sunday on a mountain near Vancouver as demonstrations continued against a controversial pipeline project.
Two 11-year-old girls crossed a police line on Burnaby Mountain east of Vancouver on Sunday, joining about 50 other people who have violated a court order in an attempt to stop work at the Kinder Morgan work site.

The children were among about 100 anti-pipeline protesters who marched up Burnaby Mountain to oppose the proposed expansion of the company's Trans Mountain pipeline.

The 11-year-old girl and her mother crossed a police line after announcing their plan to do so to supporters. Her mother arrested and later released, and an RCMP officer escorted the girl down the mountain,
Others were arrested, after making similar pronouncements and proceeding past RCMP officers, who have been positioned in large numbers along road in a wooded area on the mountain, which is home Simon Fraser University, for several days. Currently, the oil and gas company Kinder Morgan plans to increase the capacity of the Trans Mountain pipeline from its current 300,000 barrels per day to 890,000 barrels per day. This expansion would be for the sole purpose of transporting diluted bitumen from the tar sands for export, primarily to Asia. This increase translates into over 400 tankers per year carrying toxic tar sands oil through busy Burrard Inlet and across the Salish Sea.
With the increased volume of crude oil plying our waters comes an increased risk of a major oil spill, which would impact important marine and estuarine ecologies throughout Georgia Strait. A spill would also result in damage to our economy and quality of life, from ruined fisheries to impacts on tourism and recreation.
Spill response capability and funding in BC is woefully inadequate, and lags far behind other jurisdictions. The best spill response in the world only recovers 25% of the oil, which leaves an unacceptable 75% left in the environment - forever.

The Kinder Morgan proposal is also on the frontlines of the climate change challenge. The tar sands oil - the dirtiest fuel on earth - carried by Kinder Morgan- would be responsible for emissions of up to 175 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year - four times more than BC's entire annual C02 emissions. ©Al (Alex-Alexander) D Girvan.
