The Sig Sauer MCX .223-caliber rifle's magazine capacity—used by Omar Mateen-- is 30 rounds. The weapon is not an assault rifle(full automatic);it is a semi-automatic replica rifle(you know, just like the infamous air/co2 guns), which means each shot requires a separate pull of the trigger. The Sig Sauer MCX rifle takes an AR-15 style magazine and ammunition.

The Glock 17 9mm semi-automatic pistol—also used-­ has a standard magazine capacity of 17 rounds. It is “the most widely used law enforcement pistol worldwide,” according to the manufacturer.

Mateen worked as a security guard for years before the shooting.

Like a Beretta, both of these weapons are, obviously, very necessary when hunting; or for “personal” protection when going out for “entertainment”, when walking city streets, and especially when coming in close proximity to a school, or day care of any kind.

It's unclear how many rounds Mateen had with him, and authorities are investigating whether some of those killed were hit by friendly fire.

Police Admit Officers May Also Be Responsible For Gunning Down Orlando Nightclub Patrons

Orlando, FL – New details have emerged that may shed more light on the extreme casualty count in the Orlando nightclub killings. On Monday, Orlando Police Chief John Mina intimated that some of the victims may have been killed by officers trying to perform a rescue operation.

“I will say this, that’s all part of the investigation,” Mina said. “But I will say when our SWAT officers, about eight or nine officers, opened fire, the backdrop was a concrete wall, and they were being fired upon.”

A confidential law enforcement source close to the investigation said a crowd of up to 300 people within the club — combined with the complex layout of the structure — may have resulted in numerous patrons being struck by gunfire from officers.

A “restricted” classification in Canada means that most Canadians can only use it at a gun range. “PROTECTING “THEMSELVES, WHATEVER, any civilians or other non-authorised human beans deliberately discharging any type of fire arm or gun  at another, in Canada, as it well should, brings jail time.

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says the federal government rejects the idea of allowing hunters to use the same type of military-style assault rifle involved in a mass shooting in Florida.

Last month, Conservative MP Bob Zimmer presented a petition to Parliament on behalf of the Lawful Firearm Owners of Canada that calls for the classification of the AR-15 rifle[any "assault rifle" is capable of full automatic fire; a semi automatic replica is not an assault rifle but does have a large capacity mag that has no place in sport or even survival "hunting"] to be changed from a restricted firearm to a non-restricted one.
