The Canadian Dollar is now Virtually Worthless; yet, Retail Goods, in Canada, Still 10% More Expensive in Canada Than the Exact Same Goods in U.S.

Why?
1.   Rules and regulations. Altering products to comply with the rules of regulatory bodies such as the Canadian Standards Association or Health Canada CAN add to product costs. Present estimate; compliance costs can add up to 10% to gadget prices.
2.   Fraudulent Scam Economics. Very often the price difference is caused by pure scamming—claiming that because Canada is a sprawling country with, (fortunately for us) still, a relatively small population, there are higher costs for shipping, storage, distribution And, of course, the now mostly United States of The Americas owned retailers can charge more simply because there’s less competition ( no CANADIAN) up here, so we have no choice but to pay up.
3.   Tariffs, Tolls = Taxes. Import tariffs are the most variable factors in the price gap: some products are free to enter the country, while others are subject to massive government taxes. Sometimes or so it is still claimed in this era of “free  trade” and when there is very little in Canada that is Canadian owned; the tax is artificially high to “Protect Domestic Industry”. Most are just revenue-generators for Privately Owned- intruth PUBLICLY OWNED- BY ALL TAXPAYERS OF CANADA- Crown Corporation, exorbitantExecutive and/or Government perks and salaries. Prime Minister Stephen Harper’six-day trip to Canada’s North in August cost taxpayers over $786,000.
In Canada, for Canadians, wages are higher in worthless Canadian Dollars than they are for citizens of the United States of the Americas, in highly valued U.S. dollars. Many of the costs are in local dollars; so, consequently, rents are higher, utility bills are higher, property taxes are higher, Crown Corporation (including those that have been illegally “privatised”) and Government wages are higher—after all, the salaries of such VIPs just  HAVE to compare in United States of The Americas currency which what  one such important person might get –in the United States of the Americas.
Consequently Canadians suffer from—Taxes, Taxes, Taxes, Taxes, Taxes...
Until Canadians Wake- Up And Demand An Administration that actually makes SOME attempt to do its job:
·         Control its spending and its self-imposed mandate to remove more than 50% of our income from our pockets. They are kidding themselves. It is way more than 10%. Everyone knows that.
·          But worse, we Canadians are buying those items with less and less discretionary income—Increased  Taxes.
·         Fuel, housing, food and Taxes eat up a much greater portion of the Canuck's income leaving less money to spend on consumables that are - generally speaking – already 20% more in Canada. I know of several small (legally convenience stores) retailers here who simply buy retail in the united States of the Americas –have the items sent to a Post Office Box-and then bring those goods in to Canada and mark them up again. C’mon,...lets have the truth!
December 12, 2014, Will gas prices in B.C. drop even lower?
Not in downtown Vancouver; although because of some political greed, it is very unlikely, you could possibly, see it in the outlying areas, where you don’t have as high a Tax or right next to the Alberta border.
Many TransLink, municipal, and provincial government??? employees already enjoy “Grossly Obese ”salaries; do you support a 0.5% increase in sales Tax to pay for them going even higher?

The Metro Vancouver Mayor’s Council is meeting today and voted 109-19 in favour of using this as a referendum question, to be presented to voter/taxpayers; the additional monies, SUPPOSEDLY, would be used to fund a proposed $7.5 billion in transportation improvements such as--
Upgrading transit service and the Pattullo Bridge. Of course, plans would then also include Tolling-Taxing- all bridges in the province.
The council DID consider some other options, such as increasing the carbon Tax, already ruled out by Stephen Harper and a vehicle registration Tax but, in the end the mayors decided this 0.5% increase would be less of a Hit On The Taxpayer.
I want to ask you, would you agree to this?
Would you support a 0.5% increase to the Provincial Sales Tax in METRO VANCOUVER, dedicated to the Mayor's and the TransLink Executive’s remuneration plans, with, or without an independent audit?
Vancouver’s Mayor Gregor Robertson says this is a good idea, in his opinion.
“This is the most affordable way to improve our transit and our transportation network throughout our region and help people get around,” he says.

“This is quite a modest and practical plan compared to what comparable cities south of the border are making to ensure their transportation is more efficient.”© Al (Alex-Alexander) D. Girvan. All rights reserved.
